  • The winemaker will be pouring a wonderful selection of wine. Peruse the art galleries, visit the Cheese shop where you can sample artisan cheeses and local treats, or eat at the Whidbey Pies Cafe.

    7th Annual "Spring Art Studio Tour" by Whidbey Working Artists

    Runs through Sunday, March 7th, 2010 

    • Saturday and Sunday March 6 – 7, 2010
    • 10AM - 5PM
    • A free, self-guided Tour featuring 38 artists at 24 working studios.
    • Most artists will be demonstrating during the tour, providing rare insight into the creative process and techniques.
    • A color brochure with map and artist information is available online at: www.WhidbeyWorkingArtists.com.

    Printed brochures with map are available before the event at most art galleries in Island, Snohomish and Skagit counties, or at the Coupeville Rec-Hall the days of the event. Now in its 7th year, Whidbey Working Artists includes artists representing a variety of media including painting, photography, encaustic, print, pottery, sculpture, fiber, jewelry, wood and multimedia.

    • An exhibit featuring one piece from each artist will be available for viewing at the Coupeville Rec-Hall in downtown Coupeville
    • Friday, March 5th, 5:30-7:30PM
    • Concurrent with the Coupeville Mussel Festival’s Mussel Mingle.

    Our guest speaker will be Matt Kukuk, Resource Enhancement Manager for Island County Public Health.

    Matt’s topics will include the South Holmes Harbor Shellfish Protection District, the Island County Salmon Recovery Program, as well as information regarding the new septic inspection and maintenance requirements.

    Matt’s experience includes Critical Areas (wetlands, streams, bald eagle habitat, etc), Shoreline Management and Code Enforcement. This will be a great setting to ask any questions you may have regarding topics such as Island County’s zoning, clearing and grading, and stormwater ordinances, as well as the building code.

    Chamber President Chet Ross will give an update on the Freeland sewer project status, as well as an update on other Chamber events for 2010.

    Our boxed lunch menu features a delicious choice of Tuna, Grilled Chicken or Corned Beef sandwiches on whole grain bread - coleslaw or potato salad and a cookie for dessert at the cost of $ 10. Boxed lunches prepared by Gerry’s Kitchen of Freeland!
