Festival of Lights Draws Crowd!

About 100 people and families attended the Freeland Festival of Lights Christmas tree lighting, enjoying performances by Trinity Lutheran Church choir members and Bell Quartet with music provided by Charlie Moore.

Ace Hardware, Linds, Radio Shack, The Red Rooster Antiques, Mutiny Bay Antique Mall and The Beach Cabin all provided raffle items for this year's event, and The M-Bar-C Ranch/Forgotten Children's Fund provided their ever-popular "Wagon Ride with Santa."

Linds, Mutiny Mall, Second Chance, The Red Rooster Antiques, Sound Business Center, and The Beach Cabin helped provide an incentive to boost ticket sells by offering a 20% shopping discount coupon good til the 1st of December.    Collectively, these efforts helped the Freeland Chamber of Commerce raise $238 for the HOPE Therapeutic Riding Program for Children with Disabilities. A sincere "thank you" to everyone including our poster advertisers:  Creative Advertising Solutions, Maple Ridge, Radio Shack, State Farm Insurance and The Paint Escape.

Our thanks and appreciation to both The South Whidbey Record and The Whidbey Examiner for covering this event in their papers and a big "thank you" to Island Concierge Services for their fantastic Christmas tree decorating!  And last but not least, we'd like to express our appreciation to the Christmas elves that worked so hard behind the scenes to make this event happen:  Bill O'Brien, Charlie Moore, Charlona Sawyer, Chet Ross, Heather DeJong, Karl Olsen, Leanne Finlay, Linda Nevermann, Lloyd McMahon, Mike Dolan, Renate Audette, and Virginia and Ken Bloom.  Merry Christmas everyone!
