Motenko told the monthly gathering at Gerry's cafe the way to motivate employees is to, "Create the conditions where people can motivate themselves."  He said the way to do this is first to, "optimize … employee's self-determination," and to foster an employee's "need to connect with others and (groups) larger than themselves."

Motenko who recently moved to Whidbey Island, offers development workshops and coaching to companies throughout the greater Seattle area.
